Established in 1996, Cross Rip Builders is a leader in custom home construction and remodeling on Nantucket. Run as a family business, Rhett Dupont, Joe Gamberoni and Rich Gammons combine their experience and expertise to collaborate on custom homes, and work closely with top architects and longstanding subcontractors.

Rhett Dupont
Rhett Dupont has been coming to the island since 1979 and made it his permanent home in 1994. Originally from Topsfield, MA, Rhett grew up in New England and graduated from Syracuse University in 1992 with a BA in Speech Communication. After college he moved west to hone his skiing skills in Jackson Hole where he lived and worked for 2 years.
Moving back east, Rhett partnered with his best friend Joe Gamberoni and established Cross Rip Construction. The two worked closely with Rhett’s father Wayne Dupont, a highly regarded developer in Nantucket and Newburyport. The company specialized in historic renovations and expanded into new construction. Rhett has a wealth of knowledge about the materials and systems that work best for Nantucket building. He draws on his 25 years of experience to create custom homes that honor the island’s historic aesthetic while reflecting each client's unique vision.
Joe Gamberoni
Joe Gamberoni has been in the construction industry since the age of 13. He attended Utica College and graduated in 1991 with a BS in Construction Management. Originally from The Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, he began his professional career with Gilbane Building Company where he worked as a scheduling engineer and field superintendent. He specialized in the construction of pharmaceutical buildings, specifically clean rooms and laboratories.
Although he started in commercial building, Joe transitioned seamlessly into high-end, custom home building on Nantucket and has been managing construction projects on the island since 1994. Joe has a keen eye for detail, and his previous commercial experience brings expertise to complex HVAC and mechanical systems that new homes require for maximum efficiency.
Rich Gammons
Rich Gammons grew up in East Greenwich, RI and graduated from the University of Maine in 1988 with a BA in Journalism. His early career focused on sales with two Massachusetts based companies. The first sales position had him based in Seattle Washington covering the Pacific Northwest. A position in national accounts brought him back to Boston in the mid-90’s. In his spare time Rich ventured into home building starting with his own homes in Amesbury, MA and Newburyport, MA. With the encouragement of his father-in-law Wayne Dupont, he transitioned into homebuilding full-time and formed High Street Development Corp in 2002. Rich and Wayne partnered on several projects in Newburyport and Nantucket. Rich and his wife Amy moved to the island full-time in 2004.
Throughout his career Rich has prioritized relationship building which serves the company well. Knowing the unique constraints of island building and with a commitment to overcoming the challenges of building 30 miles out to sea, creating talented, collaborative teams is the cornerstone of Cross Rip Builders.
